With 107 players now registered for the Winter League 2019/20, the competition is fierce to pick up Order of Merit points.
This Saturday was made slightly harder with golfers dressing up with Christmas Jumpers and fancy dress, special mention to 3 x prize winners, Scott Anderson (who shot 41 points being carried round on Santa shoulders might have given him an advantage!), Ian Still who was also carried round the course, but with a snowman this time and he managed 35 points, and Tommy Ogston who went the whole trousers and jumper option and picked up 37 points. Lessons there lads, dress up and score well.
The order of merit after week 7 sees Scott Anderson take over on top spot on 24 points, with George Breen moving into second place on 23 points alongide Sean Mathers, Matthew McDonald is on 22 points.
The eclectic competition has Andrew Finlay on 54 in Division 1, but right behind on 55 is Ian Still thanks to an eagle 2 on the 1st on Sunday, Craig Wilkinson after his gross 65 on Saturday is on 58, with John Borthwick and Martin Elrick on 59.
Division 2 sees David Adam moving ahead on 61, with Mark Mundie and Scott Anderson on 63 and George Ross and Matthew McDonald on 64. There is no change in Division 3 with Stevie Tawse on 70, Seamus Ryan on 72 alongside Mitchell Smith with Ian Reid on 74.
Anyone can still enter the winter league competitions as these competitions go right through to middle of march, and it only takes a few good rounds and you can be right up there in the order of merit.
