Interesting conditions for the latest weekends golf, with early strong wind on Saturday not appearing to affect the majority with a number of great scores recorded, with conditions easing the scores remained in the high 30s and low 40 stableford points. On Sunday conditions were cold and frosty with hard greens and strange bounces to contend with.
The order of merit sees George Breen keep his 5 point lead by moving onto 34pts, with a great round from Andrew Finlay moving him into second on 29pts. There's no improvement on the closest challengers with Scott Anderson on 24pts, Sean Mathers on 23pts and Matthew McDonald on 22pts, but Doug Cox has moved well up the table after his 42pt round sees him now on 21 order of merit points.
In the Eclectic competition, in Division 1, Andrew Finlay has been caught on 53 with Ian Still matching his score. Martin Elrick and Jon Bodicoat are on 55, with George Breen, John Borthwick and David Peters sitting on 56.
Division 2 sees a three way tie on 60 with Calum Kinnaird and Derek Cruickshank catching long time leader David Adam, two shots back on 62 are Mark Mundie (an eagle 2 on hole 13 helps the eclectic), Scott Anderson, Ian Milne, Matthew McDonald and Jamie Eastcroft.
In Division 3 Graham Wright has tied with Stevie Tawse on 68, with Chris Dunning and Mitchell Smith on 69 and then Ian Reid on 70.
We are now half way through the competitions, and everyone is well aware that there is a lot of golf to be played and things can change dramatically, but with points on the board it is up to everyone else to mount the charge and catch the leaders.
