On Friday Night we had the annual Gents Trophy Presentation. It was pleasing to see so many recipitents in attendance to collect their awards.
Club member and King of the Beach End, Joe Harper was there to present the winners with their trophies. A tasty buffet was enjoyed by all and thanks to the Bistro team for looking after everyone.
Andrew Ashley collected the Club Championship Scratch Trophy, along with the Order of Merit Gross Award and the Scratch Cup to scoop the three main scratch awards and be the Craibstone Grand Slam Winner for 2018. Well done Andrew.
Stuart Milne, Gents team captain presented Rob Goldie and Jim Chalmers with the Captains Quaich Scratch and Nett Awards.
Rob also shared the Order of Merit Nett Award with Alan Bloice and Ian Still.
Our Order of Merit Awards were introduced this season with the trophies being awarded to the highest points scorers over the 10 nominated events. We wish to thank Jon Bodicoat and Dominion Gas for sponsoring these awards, it is hugely appreciated.
Duncan Barclay collected the JCM Trophy for scoring 78pts as a best 2 out of 3 midweek stableford rounds.
Austin Hay collected the Craibstone Trophy for recording 80pts for a best 2 nett out of 4 rounds for the Saturday Stableford Awards.
Austin was joined by Kenny MacPhee as they collected the Doubles Trophy for winning the foursomes competition, they now go forward to represent the club in the Daily Mail National Foursomes Competition.
Bill Angus was presented with the Club Championship Handicap Trophy following his 4 round success earlier in the season, and after he held off Andrew Ashley in a 3 hole play off to secure the Handicap Club Championship.
John Gardiner was the best Craibstone Nett scorer at the Gents Open and collected the prize for his nett 64.
Unable to attend but the other prize winners were Jon Bodicoat who won the 36 hole Peter Simpson Silver Salver, Sean Mathers who won the Handicap Cup the match play competition played over the whole season. Sean now joins Andrew Ashley in next season Evening Express Champion of Champions. Gary Milne and Dave Souden won the Greensomes Trophy and Gary Gray won the Masters Flag with rounds of 66 and 62 to record the best 2 out of 4 rounds back in April.
Monthly medals were awarded to the three section winners from each of the months from April through to October.
