Local Winter Rules
Please be informed that new local rules have been implemented on the course. The key changes include the introduction of Preferred Lies (also known as "Lift, Clean, and Place") with a 6-inch drop rule, applicable on fairways only, as well as the optional use of mats (from 2nd of Nov).
What Are Preferred Lies?
Preferred lies allow a golfer to improve the position of their ball on certain areas of the course. Under this rule, players may mark, lift, clean, and drop their ball within 6 inches of its original spot, but not closer to the hole.
Use of Mats
-
Optional Mats: Golfers have the option to use mats on the fairway. Mats can help protect the fairway and provide a cleaner hitting surface.
-
Not Mandatory: The use of mats is not mandatory. Players may choose to use a mat or apply the preferred lies rule as described above.
-
How to Use a Mat: Place the mat down in the fairway and position the ball on top of it before taking your shot. Make sure the mat is placed within 6 inches of the original spot of the ball.
When and Where Does This Apply?
-
Preferred Lies: Applies only to the fairways. It does not apply to the rough, bunkers, or other hazards.
-
Mats: Can be used on fairways only.
How to Apply the Preferred Lies Rule:
-
Mark the position of the ball.
-
Lift the ball and clean it.
-
Drop the ball within 6 inches of the original spot, ensuring it is not placed closer to the hole.
-
Ensure that the new spot remains within the fairway.
Additional Notes:
-
These rules are designed to maintain fair play during periods of less-than-ideal conditions.
-
They are temporary and will be reviewed as conditions improve.
-
Please respect these rules and adhere to any updates provided by course management.
