Brian Race - Seniors Club Champion 2020

Congratulations to BRIAN RACE who defeated Bill Johnston 2 and 1 in the Seniors Club Championship play off match.
Brian edged ahead early on and kept his advantage throughout the back 9 until Bill started to eat into his lead coming down the last few holes, on the 17th Bill was on in 2 and looking good with Brian to the right of the green in 3, but a superb chip found the bottom of the hole to secure a 2 and 1 victory, when Bill's birdie putt missed. This is the third year in a row that Brian has won the Seniors Championship with an incredible match play record of only the one defeat in 4 years.
Brian qualified for the play off by winning the Seniors Handicap Matchplay and Bill qualified by winning the Seniors Strokeplay event.
Our Seniors play every Monday with over 40 players now regularly competing with tee times drawn two weeks in advance, if any gents over 55 years want to get involved then ask in office or drop an email to golf@marshall-leisure.co.uk, there are still plenty competitive rounds of golf to play.
